Apologies for the absence, assignments from uni were steadily piling up and there was no time for a break until now.
First Saturday off work in a while! Threw on this coat (the red is even brighter in real life) and went out to do some weekend grocery shopping. Can you believe these photos were taken on an iPhone? The camera on the 5 is just ... wow.

Shutter Pirates Exhibition (July 2013)
All photos by Vanessa Zhen

Continuing from my previous post, this set of photos was taken for my final re-shoot for my photography paper. I called the final series unveiling because I felt it was more about hiding and showing the different qualities, rather than my initial 'first impressions' approach.
One of my photographs were also displayed among many of the other beautifully photographs at the Shutter Pirates exhibition last month.... hmmm now I'm just wondering who took mine home?? lol

V's Photography Project - "First Impressions" (working title)

This was one of my first shoots for my photography project I had last semester. The series had to consist of 9 photographs, but I chose 6 (above) as some of my favorites from the shoot. The theme I chose was 'first impressions' and I wanted to visually express this by using elements such as; light and shadow. The concept was to conceal and reveal qualities of a persons personality through the use of these elements whilst the photo-frame added another small dimension to the photograph overall.

I personally felt my approach wasn't strong enough to portray the true representation of 'first impressions, so I ended up also doing another re-shoot for this and that (I think) will be uploaded shortly.
Also my two models on the day were great (they're definitely not new faces on here haha) and they did what they were told!
Thanks guys ♡

1. Looking out at the Auckland Harbor bridge on a nice Sunday afternoon, Just got my new ID photo taken lol,  waking up to the smell of my Irish Nut Crémé ♥, First Far East Movement gig in Auckland! "Turn Up the Bass"
2.  Yui + I @ FEM gig, My photograph displayed at the Shutter Pirates exhibit, 19th Birthday/dinner, Dessert time at Fortuna
3. EXO Albums arrived!!! CAN'T. CONTAIN. MY INNER FANGIRL RIGHT NOW.

Today's the last day of July'13. I haven't been posting much on instagram this month (esp. compared to last month haha). Far East Movement's gig was amazing, they're so energetic + they got so much swag LOL. Also I can't believe I turned 19 last week... like seriously? sooo fast! Didn't do much this year, might plan something soon (?) >.<
Now I'm in my third week back of uni, so far so good :) however learning to code however is another story...sure webpages are interesting but I won't deny and say I don't have mixed feelings about it as a whole. Hopefully it gets better as the term progresses.
In the meantime I'll just wait impatiently for Growl - EXO to come out (rumored for Aug 1st).

Our very first video diary! Aptly named 'vanilla tea video diary', hahaha. I came upon this song a few years ago while watching the Gossip Girl season 3 finale. Stumbled on it again tonight while choosing the background music for the video diary and thought this was nice, especially with the soft singing and marching band drum beat.
Thoughts?

childish fun

vintage denim jacket, self made top, zara jeans, glassons beanie, shoes from china

Holidays have finished for V but I've still got a week left. These holidays have been highly unproductive, just the way I like it. Catching up on sleep, shows, friends, and good food. Seen a couple of new movies and tried new restaurants that I've never had the time to do before.
Today we went out for lunch, and although the weather was a bit chilly, I still wanted to wear this top. I made it over the weekend in the studio, because the fabric was far too cute not to buy. Glad I did, because I'm sure this top will be a staple with denim shorts when summer rolls back around.

Happy Monday!

June was a really busy month for me, but despite all the stress and workload I was given, I still tried to make time for the things I love to do - like hanging out with friends and making the most of my day. I did more photoshoots+reshoots this month than ever before... it was definitely a learning curve! I also started this small project of mine called 'one second a day'... it turns out instead of recording just a second each day, I've now collected snippets what June was like for me :) It's a lot fun and I think I'll keep it up for as long as I'm bothered really.

Hohoho I also caught up with T (a few times actually) this month ^o^
